I'll admit it, i'm an anime fan. It's a wonderful form of cartooning, and by far, prettier than some American cartoons. Anime has certainly made its presense known here on Deviant Art, but a good portion of the anime characters just aren't original. There's hundreds of re-drawn Death Note characters as well as characters from other animes popping up here and there. No, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact i applaud those who like to take popular characters and throw them into situations perhaps not yet (or never will be) seen in the series. It's also wonderful to see these characters show up as a different drawing style than the anime (some people have done beautiful jobs at creating realistic looking pictures using the anime for a base). There's even been photographs taken of people dressed like their favourite characters, which is awesome. What gets to me, is when people just draw the anime character exactly as it is portrayed in the cartoon (no new situation, no different technique, just a replica). Yes, i know it's called "fanart", but it's already been done. Another problem with anime on here is every now and then, some boob will send in a screen shot and call it their "original drawing" and get upteen zillion favourites from unsuspecting anime fans. There also have been original characters and art stolen from an artist's website and put on here by some twit that wants quick page-views. Over all though, i've seen some pretty remarkable anime Fan-art by some very talented (and detail oriented) artists, not to mention some very outstanding original work. So, the only things i've got a few problems with are clones, stolen work, and screen-shots being called one's own art (just to sum that all up).
