Miss Mandy in Acrylic

Furthering my adventures in dog painting, something which i am really new at, this is only painting number 2...

Miss Mandy, the painting took a while. She has a very unique coat that is a mixing of grey, tan, black, and a small bit of white. Most of her hairs are tri-colored. Most dogs have their darker fur layers underneath the lighter ones, she on the other hand has light fur underneath and in other areas of her body has dark hair underneath so painting her took many many layers. My progress on these is tracked in pictures that will be in my "Scraps" section. Mediums for the painting were: Acrylic paint on white gesso factory prepared canvas. The lily in the corner of the picture is not part of the painting

P.S.:::I will note that i also had to fill in her eyes in a special way because the poor dear has a bad case of pannus, an eye disease common in German Shepherds (and less common in a few other breeds) that is an incurable auto-immune response to unknown triggers (though it is believed to be made worse by UV light--sun--and irritants in the environment). It consists of chronic inflammation of the cornea and covers the entire eye in a dark brown "skin". Her eyes before the pannus were an interesting and very pretty honey brown, a bit lighter than what i've made them here. In the original photograph i painted this from, i edited her eyes in the GIMP program so that i could successfully see and then draw her iris and pupils.
